Check out my part one of Batu Pahat's foods here.
Akbar Chendol
Akbar's chendol has been there since I was young, I cannot forget its taste of gula melaka & coconut milk. Must try!
B.P. Chendol (Pak 'O')
65-A Jalan Rugayah, Batu Pahat (next to bus interchange)
Chop See Kee (Ah See Wanton Mee)
2, Jalan Jenang, Batu Pahat
They are famous for their QQ noodles, and I agreed with this. I tried cutting into small pieces for baby using chopsticks, and these noodles simply couldn't be cut unless I'm using more strength. This was unlike usual wanton mee noodles whereby we could cut them easily using our fingers. The noodles are a little greasy, and you could taste its flour (quite original) in every mouthful.
De Little Ellmari Concept Boutique
68 Jalan Flora Utama 8, Taman Flora Utama, 83000 Batu Pahat
We were searching for cafe during teatime, and stumbled upon this little boutique as someone was eating ice-cream in a flower pot. We find it too cute to be missed, and went in for a try. You may order six scoops of ice-creams which came with topping of oreo crumbs, and milo cereals.
Han Kee Cake & Cafe
48 Jalan Jelawat, Taman Banang, 83000 Batu Pahat
Han Kee is just like your ordinary neighbourhood bread & cake shop. Famed for their otah buns which made crowds packing up the small cafe since early in the morning. Be there earlier or their round buns which goes well with otahs and fried eggs would be sold out. Yes, I only get to try with normal white bread, but it is already so good! If you're not a fan of otah, you may wish to order some coffee or tea with the other breads, and pastries.
Harbour Hong Kong Steamboat 黄城港式火锅
No.1, Jalan Penjaja 3 Kim's Park, 83000 Batu Pahat | +60 7-433 8133
Finally, a decent steamboat restaurant apart from the one at Minyak Beku. Broth is yummy, with lots of ingredients to choose from. Kindly check out my steamboats post here.
Ishi Raku Izakaya 石乐居酒屋
36, Jalan Jenang, 83000 Batu Pahat
For Japanese cuisine, Ishi Raku is the more affordable one in BP. Their foods are quite authentic, and similar to Singaporeans' taste.
Jim Coffee Shop
175 Jalan Abu Bakar, Batu Pahat (end of Jln Abu Bakar & junction of Jln Abd. Khalid)
Their mee rebus's gravy is kind of spicy, and if you would like to make it spicier, top up with green cut raw chillis. I ordered nasi lemak instead (you have to order in advance or it would be sold out). Do add some tomato ketchup if you wish to reduce the spiciness.
Kedai Kopi dan Makanan Nam Wee
Located at the junction of Jalan Abu Bakar and Jalan Soga.
Mr. Yaw's Min Chang Kueh / 面煎馃 / Apam Balik is one of the best in Batu Pahat. His huge apam balik only has peanuts and oil as main ingredients. Though oily, the kueh is certainly heavenly yummy. I can finish half of it myself.
Kedai Kopi Seng Seng
20, Jalan Jenang, 83000 Batu Pahat
Desserts that are only available after 8pm, I'm so in love with their cheng thng (locals name it as Liu Wei Tang - six flavoured soup). The shop do sell Mee Huen Kuay.
Kedai Makan Kampung Tiochew
3 Jalan Rugayah Utara, 83000, Batu Pahat.
Tel: 07-432 9396 & 012-754 2686.
If you are looking to eat crabs in Batu Pahat, this is a must try. We reached at 7pm, and waited until 8:30pm as the freshly caught crabs were on their way from Johor Bahru. All the other people were also waiting for their famous black pepper crab. Your waiting time would not be wasted, I promise. Their black pepper sauce is mixed with minced garlic, and crab meat is just too soft and tender. I don't fancy crabs, but I must say theirs are the best in BP. If you intend to visit on weekends, be prepared to wait. You may refer to my crabs post here.
Kedai Makanan Ah Hua
6 Jalan Ampang Jaya, Taman Ampang Jaya, 83000 Batu Pahat | +607 432 0429
The bakchor mee is pretty good, noodles are springy which goes well with its bakchor and soy sauce. You may choose other ingredients like yong tau fu style, and they will serve in a large bowl of soup. Thumbs up!
Mcking's 99
Jalan Setia Jaya Utama (next to restaurant with yellow signboard showing 898)
Do try out pineapple, and cheng thng drink. There is Ah Pui mee (yes, they are everywhere!), sinful rojak, fried chicken, roti pratas, and char kway teow (just average).
Old Bus Station at Jalan Omar
It opens in the evening until supper time. Note that there is pasar malam (night market) every Friday, do visit after 9:30pm to avoid crowds. You can choose to have burgers, lok lok, chai tao kway (fried carrot cake), fishball noodles etc. Most importantly, do try out san se nai cha (three coloured milk tea) which is mixed with caramel syrup.
Restoran Berlian Jaya
Jalan B/J 2 Taman Puteri, 83000 Batu Pahat
Famous for Mee Huen Kuay which I find it not too bad as this simple dish made of flour, and some vegetables could satisfy my tummy.
Sam Choon Farm Fried Chicken
Sam Choon's fried chicken is the best I have ever eaten so far. It can easily beats KFC, you can choose any parts of the chicken you like. I don't mind paying since I could have chicken breast.
Segenting Restaurant
10 Jalan Perdana 2/24, Taman Bukit Perdana, 83000 Batu Pahat
This is like the other end of Batu Pahat which I seldom visit. Thanks to my brother who recommended us this restaurant which is famous for Guinness Stout's ribs, and curry prawns.
Sin Heng Coffee Shop
Located along Jalan Kluang near Jalan Haji Basir which is next to Shell petrol station.
Be prepared to queue during lunch hours. Their laksa is has a slight coconut milk taste, but not heavy. Prawn noodles is equally popular.
22 Jalan Flora Utama 8, Taman Flora Utama, 83000 Batu Pahat | +607 438 8717
A nice little cafe for chilling out, the cakes are not too bad.
