As a fan of Hello Kitty, the thought of a theme park located just across the causeway thrilled me. I did read up a lot of reviews from forums that it is a relatively small building whereby you could cover within half a day. If you visit on weekends, you will need to queue at least half an hour for each activity. So in order to avoid disappointment, we went there on weekdays (no school holidays of course).
We stayed 2D1N at Traders Hotel http://www.shangri-la.com/johor/traders which is just next to Hello Kitty Town. They do have room packages for both Lego land as well as Hello Kitty Theme Park http://www.playtime.com.my/hello-kitty-town. Parking is free for hotel guests, our check-in procedure was pretty fast, and we had a free upgrade to harbour view. We were lucky that our room was ready at 10am in the morning, and we need not worry about our luggage.
Do check out my Angry Birds Activity Park's post here, and also indoor playgrounds & trampoline parks post here.
First Storey - Cafe & Souvenirs
Second Storey - Hello Kitty & Friends
As we started early at about 10:30am, the park was not too crowded yet. So we still get to enjoy most of the activities. Baby was excited riding the tea cups, and was shouting with joy while playing balls at Friendship Land.
We had so much fun at Black Wonder, looking for clues to phrase a word before getting our certificate.
Time for some snacks at lovely Cinnamoroll's cafe.
There are total of four activities at Wishful Studio, and you will be given a stamp upon entry on your postcard (provided at entrance). I like this concept as it acts as a memento to young children, especially me (a child at heart). The first one is putting in a ribbon pendant into bracelet, and clip it onto your hand. You may take the bracelet home as a gift.
Though some parents complained on forum that it is not worth an hour wait for something this simple which can be completed within a minute (which I agreed, if I were to wait for an hour), but isn't that what theme park is about? It is to keep it as simple as possible since theme parks are meant for children. They are there to enjoy, play, and not to squeeze their brains out by performing difficult tasks. Do you expect them to weld the bracelets then?? That is one challenging job, I suppose.
Our next activity is to decorate Hello Kitty's biscuit with sugars, and chocolate. Baby took a bite of the biscuit immediately before we could even start to decorate his. We were laughing our heads off, and the group sitting next to us could not stop laughing either.
We skipped the nail art decoration as this is more for girls rather than boy. The last activity was to dress up as one of the characters, and posed for pictures. Baby looked so weird with Hello Kitty suit.
Last visit was to Kitty's House before we proceed to third storey. It was a wonderful experience, the staffs were friendly, we enjoyed every bit of it. One bad point though, the printer was down for that day and our certificate was ruined. As for stamps on postcards, they were not stamped properly as some of the ink cannot be seen. This is something need to be improved on.
Third & Fourth Storeys - Barney ~ Bob the Builder ~ Thomas & Friends
There was nothing much on third storey, just Barney playground, and an arcade. The only attraction was slide from Bob the Builder. I enjoyed it as much as baby.
On fourth storey, is another mini theme park for children with Thomas & Friends theme. Baby loved sitting on the choo choo train which goes round one of the indoor playgrounds.
Some pictures of our hotel room, it is spacious!
Did I mention they have great pool view from the top of hotel? I like the one with jacuzzi.
